“Appreciate beauty, take pictures and make memories. Capture it, you never know when it’ll be gone.”

I’m not a photographer as some might think but I definitely have the passion for it..  I’m Always in search for that instant in my life to capture for eternity…

As my sinful heart roams around the small alleys and stalls of Nouakchott’s Market.  I search for  that great photograph.. Once more I’m given moments like these to treat my rusting soul .. Here I find a reality of a simple looking man who Allah has bestowed his favours upon him and filled his heart with His words, devotion and submission…  I watched him for a few minutes- taking the time in choosing the right ‘lawh’ for his students before buying it…A man who has devoted his life to the Quran and teaching to others.. I stood in absolute awe of this fleeting reality…

Just as I prepare myself to photograph, I  hold my breath at that precise moment hoping that the burden will slowly ease off my darkened heart and a light of hope will illuminate my chest, I instantly capture a minute of the simplicity yet uplifting moment.

Once captured, photos will never cease looking back- reminding me of how fortunate I am…  A poignant reminder to release the turmoil within my heart..
A reminder to my shameful soul who’s been pulled by worldly life.  A reminder to my raging despair or my sense of failure towards my duties.. A reminder that turns the above into calmness and brings me absolute solace…

A reminder of the perfect timing that this photo was taken…On the 1st of Rajab…
“Rajab is the month to sow the seeds; Sha’ban is the month to irrigate the crop; and Ramadan is the month to reap the harvest.”
Abu Bakr b. al-Warraq al-Balkhi
